sedentary activities are those that involve very little or no muscle movement and/or energy expenditure, and usually involve sitting. Examples of sedentary activities include TV viewing, computer use, sitting in an automobile, or most other activities that involve sitting. Sedentary behaviour is defined as any waking activity that requires an energy expenditure ranging from 1.0 to 1.5 basal metabolic rate, performed in a sitting or reclining posture.
