John Nash was a brilliant mathematician who suffered from schizophrenia in his 30s. He experienced paranoia and delusions that affected his work and life. He was hospitalized several times and treated with anti-psychotic medications. However, he claimed that he recovered from his illness without medicine, but with the help of ageing, social support and rational thinking. His recovery was remarkable and rare, as only a small percentage of schizophrenia patients achieve remission.
